Travel Alarm Clocks - Your Traveling Companion
While many hotels have alarm clocks these days and/or offer wake-up calls, it’s still a good idea to bring your own alarm clock that you know you can rely on.
Some things to think about when buying a travel alarm clock are:
1- Portability
It probably goes without saying, but your travel alarm clock should run on batteries, be fairly lightweight and not too big - so it won’t take up precious space and weight in your suitcase.
2- Ease of use
Get an alarm clock that has easy-to-read numbers and is equally easy to set (especially if you’re going to need to change the time because of time zone changes). If you’re going to be waking up in the dark, check to make sure your alarm has lit numbers or will light up at the touch of a button.
3- Unbreakable
Or at least tough. You want a clock that won’t break in your luggage. Some come with a protective case or a flip top that can be closed to protect the face while it’s in your suitcase.
4- Sound
Choose one that wakes you up with familiar sounds like beeps or rings, so you know the sound is coming from the clock and not somewhere else. This is especially useful if you’ll be in a foreign place with foreign sounds.
5- Batteries
If your alarm clock uses the same size batteries as your camera (or other electronic equipment), you’ll only need to bring one set of spare batteries with you, instead of different sizes for each piece of equipment.
6- Price
Travel alarm clocks come in lots of prices, but expensive isn’t always best. Just remember what you want from the clock, and if a cheaper version will do the trick, why spend the money for something else?
