Newport Beach: Fun for the Whole Family
Newport Beach is a great place for family vacations because it has activities for everyone, young to old.
Naturally, the biggest attraction is the beach itself, offering swimming, sunbathing, boat riding and even jet skiing. Kids can build sand castles while the teens learn to surf. Newport Beach has several good spots for surfing, including The Wedge — which should be reserved for experts. If you don’t want to try it yourself, you might still enjoy watching the experts bodysurf and bodyboard through the swells.
If the beach can’t keep your interest, check out the Balboa Fun Zone. There you’ll find a ferris wheel and merry-go-round, plus a boardwalk full of arcades, and harbor cruises you can take.
Newport Beach is a great spot for rollerblading. If you don’t have your own or don’t want to lug them in your suitcase, rent rollerblades from vendors and just return them when you’re done. There are lots of sidewalks along the beach that are perfect for rollerblading.
If you have kids with you–and some cash–take some time to visit Toy Boat Toy Boat Toy Boat, a fun and original toy store in Newport Beach.
Last but not least, don’t forget to dine at some of the fabulous restaurants in the area. You can find nearly any cuisine or price range, so you’re sure to find something that will meet your needs.
There’s one danger in vacationing in Newport Beach: you might never want to leave.
